ZF 8HP generations and capacity.

First and second generation

Sonnax’s Chrysler ZF8 identification guide groups 8HP45, 8HP70 and 8HP90 as generation one; 8HP50, 8HP75 and 8HP95 as generation two. Some Chrysler, Ram and Jeep applications changed in 2019. That date is not a changeover rule for every manufacturer.

Later revisions and overlapping applications

ZF identifies the 8HP50 and announced 8HP75 in its second generation introduction. That does not establish a generation map for every suffix or every model.

ZF’s 2017 brochure describes a third generation entering production in 2018. Later ZF material confirms a fourth generation focused on electrification. Neither source justifies assigning the names 8HP80 or 8HP100 to a generation by guesswork.

Factory Nm only. This is not a light or heavy C&C build tier, horsepower rating, or complete family ranking. Models without verified capacity are omitted.

8HP55A petrol and diesel values refer to the basic columns of its ZF datasheet. The Audi Q7 8HP65A is rated at 700 Nm in that application, which shows why the model digits are not a safe capacity formula.
