ZF 8HP swap parts checklist
Use one list for what you own, what you want in the quote and what still needs a decision. The Spec Finder captures those distinctions for C&C.
Match the interfaces before buying
- Transmission: exact model, tag, donor and core condition.
- Engine interface: proposed adapter, flexplate and related part numbers.
- Converter: existing or proposed model and intended use.
- Controller: model, harness, shifter and communication plan with the engine management.
Plan the installation
- Transmission mount, crossmember and available tunnel space.
- Output connection, driveshaft and drivetrain layout.
- Cooler location, lines, fittings and the fluid/service plan specified for the unit.
- Electrical power, grounds, wiring protection and responsibility for calibration.
Avoid the expensive sequencing mistake
Do not order each part independently just because its listing mentions your engine or an 8HP. Ask who confirms that the complete set works together. Record exact part numbers and measurements, not only brand names.
Turn the list into a clear quote
Mark every item Already own, Include options in quote, Help me choose, Unsure or Not applicable. Ask C&C which work it will perform, which parts it can source and what remains with your installer. A request to source a part is not a promise of availability.
