Which ZF 8HP should I use?
Start with the project, not the biggest number on the transmission name. A useful recommendation connects the unit to your actual car and how you drive it.
Give C&C these four things
- Vehicle or chassis, engine family and drivetrain.
- Current transmission or donor details, if you have them.
- Current and target horsepower, with wheel or crank measurement noted if known.
- Street use, drag launches, roll racing, drift or track use, plus the parts you already own.
Already have a transmission?
Start with its tag and donor identity before replacing it. Tell C&C about current faults, previous work and modifications. An existing unit gives the review a concrete starting point; buying another donor first can create unnecessary work.
Starting a swap from scratch?
Ask C&C to review the transmission with the engine interface, controller, converter and installation plan. Keep proposed part numbers in one list. Do not treat an engine-family label or a component’s advertised rating as approval for the whole installation.
What should the recommendation settle?
- Which exact transmission and core arrangement to use.
- The parts and work C&C will quote, with any external work identified.
- What you should buy now, and what should wait for measurements or identification.
